The company recently procured a prospecting license for the Kokong diamond field
Firestone Diamonds has announced plans to expand production at its BK11 mine in Orapa in 2012, the Mmegi.bw news site reports.
The diamond company’s goal is for the mine to produce 1 million carats a year by 2014.
Aside from increasing diamond yields at the BK11 mine, Firestone recently procured a prospecting license for the Kokong diamond field, which is reported to contain 68 kimberlites. The new license brings Firestone’s total of Botswana kimberlites to 174, 43 of which are known to contain diamonds.
