Sarah Jessica Parker has been working steadily as an actress since she was a child, but only when she gained international fame for her iconic role as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City did she become an A-list fashionista.
At a Beijing event for jewelry designer Cindy Chao, Parker wore a selection of Chao's diamond jewelry: diamond earrings in 18 karat rose gold; diamond bangle bracelets with a branch motif; bracelets of black diamonds set in black gold; and a ring featuring a Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond surrounded by smaller white and yellow diamonds.
Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw character is credit with sparking a trend for black diamond jewelry after Carrie's swain, Big, presented her with a black diamond engagement ring in the second Sex and the City movie. The ring itself was designed by Itay Malkin and features a .35 black diamond surrounded by 80 round white pave diamonds in an 18 karat white gold setting.
Malkin worked with both the actress and the series' costume designer, Patricia Field, on the ring design and produced a limited edition of numbered replica rings for $10,000 each.
As impressive as Carrie Bradshaw's ring is, when she became engaged to fellow actor Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica received a stunning engagement ring of her own – a 5.5-carat emerald-cut diamond solitaire in a platinum setting.
Sarah Jessica Parker is also known for her unique vintage jewelry selections. She has been spotted several times wearing a 19th-century heart pendant encrusted with over 12 carats of diamonds, including a 2.3 carat Fancy Yellow pear-shaped stone; and for the 2011 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Ball – one of the highlights of the fashion industry's event calendar – she wore antique diamond bracelets provided by the jeweler Fred Leighton.
