Israel’s Polished Diamond Exports Rise by 49% in November

The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has announced that Israel’s polished diamond exports rose to $524.1million (by 49%) in November. Rough diamond exports rose to $256.8 million or by 144%, reaching a combined growth rate of 71% or $780.9 million.
With regards to diamond imports, total rough and polished diamond imports rose by 75% to $695.6 million while Israel’s net diamond account, representing the excess of total exports over total imports, grew by 43% to $85.3 million.
These figures come as a turnaround following the recent negative economic impact on the diamond industry. However, up until November, polished diamond exports had slumped 41% percent to $3.63 billion, while rough diamond exports declined by 47% to $1.74 billion. Likewise, total diamond imports dropped 48% to $4.33 billion, leaving Israel’s net diamond account at an overall 9% drop to $1.04 billion for the period between January and November.
