Mark Turner, owner of Turner’s Jewelers in Seneca, South Carolina, a family business that has been around over 50 years, experienced a career first lately – the first time someone who has won a diamond, contributed by his store to a local charity fundraiser, has yet to claim their prize.
The “Diamond Dip,“ held as part of the South Carolina Oconee Medical Center's fundraiser, gave participants a chance to dig through a bowl of gems and pick one, in hopes of finding a real, $3,000 diamond, hidden among hundreds of cubic zirconia.
Hundreds of the fundraiser's attendants were happy to contribute $25 for the cause, and “go fish”. Turner and his staff used an electronic tester to check each stone, but at the end of the night, there were no lucky winners, and just one problem. “We went through the bowl twice. The diamond wasn’t there.“ Turner told Channel 7 News. Which means someone has the diamond and doesn't even know it.
The jewelry store owner hopes the mystery will be solved soon. “Maybe it’ll make a good surprise for someone,“ he said
