Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce has announced that gemstone and jewelry exports for July increased by 44% to $17 billion and imports rose by 55% to $18 billion.
As part of Thailand’s aspiration to increase its penetration into the global market of gemstone and gemstone jewelry, it has ventured into new jewelry markets, thereby generating a 31% increase in trade.
The Thai gem and jewelry industry reportedly recorded a whopping 197% increase in exports. The Thai government attributes the increase in export value to the rise in gold prices.
