Vanity Fair's July issue is dedicated completely to Africa. The issue, which was initiated and edited by the singer Bono, focuses on Africa, through the eyes of private individuals. The goal is to present Africa's challenges, promise and future.
The renowned photographer, Annie Leibovitz, prepared 20 versions for the front page, featuring celebs such as George Bush, Condoleezza Rice, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bono, Madonna, Bill Gates and many more.
All of the front pages are built as a chain letter; each picture features a different person in the center with another person standing alongside the first, supposedly passing on a message.
Alongside the special edition is a 74-paged booklet dedicated to diamonds and jewelry. The booklet contains information about conflict diamonds. Advertisers include Tiffany & Co, Harry Winston, Cartier, Asprey and others.
