The Fiera di Vicenza opened in Vicenza, Italy yesterday with 1,662 exhibitors from Italy and 30 foreign countries.
So far the traffic has been more sluggish than last year, but exhibitors are expecting traffic to gather momentum before the show ends on January 20.
This is the first major show in the international jewelry show calendar of 2008 and it serves as a showcase for the design and programs of the Italian jewelry industry.
The Italian jewelry industry has encountered difficulties in recent years, both from the aspect of internal sales and export. This industry, like many others, is endeavoring to cope with the increasing price of precious raw materials. Italian clients noted that sales were relatively low over the Christmas period, which is now being reflected in lesser buying capacity.
Fiera di Vicenza will be holding panels and discussions throughout the show with the aim of offering solutions to some of the difficulties currently being faced by the Italian industry. The strategy of the “Made in Italy” brand is also a focus of the show and tomorrow, on June 15, it will host a conference in this matter.
Meanwhile, the show’s organizers have announced strategic re-branding: From now on the winter show will be named “First. The Jewelry Supremacy”; the summer show will be called “Charm.” And the autumn show – “Choice.”
The Israel Diamond Industry Pavilion G, which includes nine Israeli diamantaires, is located on the Diamond Avenue.
