These days you can just about slice the tension in Hollywood's starlit air with a knife. The various glittery affairs are about to culminate in the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony. Every year, prior to the high-profile event, jewelers vie against each other to display their sparkling creations on the necks, ears or fingers of Hollywood's hottest stars.
This year is no exception. Jewelry companies are already advertising their wares. The online auction site Ebay is offering a one-of-a-kind, 75-carat necklace of Royal Asscher® Cut diamonds, which is valued at 1.8 million dollars. The proceeds are to go to charity. The sale is taking place as part of Ebay's Style Suite, which displays jewelry and designer clothes for the Academy Awards ceremonies to stylists and dressers.
Diamond.com and ICE.com announced that their jewelry will definitely be showcased during the festivities. The websites have invited stars and other celebrities to a special pre-Oscar event where the participants will receive complementary jewelry that they can wear to various sparkling pre-event and post-event Oscar parties
