Ronald Adolf, owner and operator of Ronnie's Dezyns, Ltd., a jewelry store located at 6 Elm Street, Huntington, has been arrested on a felony sales tax charge, according to Jamie Woodward, Acting Commissioner of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
An investigation by the Tax Department revealed that Adolf collected more than $50,000 in sales tax from customers between March 1, 2002 and February 28, 2007, but did not remit any of that money to New York State. The investigation also revealed that Ronnie's Dezyns, Ltd. was registered as a sales tax vendor, but never filed any sales tax returns.
Adolf, 54, was charged with Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a class C felony. If convicted, jeweler Adolf faces up to 15 years in prison.
Acting Commissioner Woodward stated, "Those who commit tax fraud deprive the state and local governments of needed revenue that support education, health care and transportation. This office will continue to vigorously investigate these thefts and work with our law enforcement partners to prosecute those who break the law.”
