Tanzania’s new Mining Act of 2010, which was recently passed in the country’s parliament, sets a royalty rate on the gross value of minerals produced under an authorized miner’s license at 5% for diamonds and gemstones.
While the royalty rate for uranium is also 5%, the royalty rate for metallic minerals, such as copper, gold, silver, and platinum group minerals, is 4%.
