Compugen Signs Collaboration Agreements with Two Leading Pharmaceutical Companies

Swiss healthcare company, Roche Holdings AG, and Israeli Compugen Ltd have signed a collaboration agreement to utilize Compugen's proprietary GeneVa platform to analyze DNA samples and clinical data provided by Roche for the study and treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). RA, a common autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints, affects more than 21 million people worldwide.
Compugen has also entered into an agreement with US Merck & Co to predict and validate peptides that are likely to activate G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), the largest family of known drug targets, on which at least 40% of all prescription drugs currently available are thought to act on. Merck is to use Compugen's GPCR discovery engine in its drug development programs. Roche Holdings AG, based in Switzerland, is one of the leading global healthcare companies in the world, with total 2007 revenues of over $46 billion. Merck & Co is a global research-driven pharmaceutical company with 2007 revenues of $24.2 billion. Compugen Ltd. located in Tel Aviv, is a biotechnology discovery company focused on therapeutic and diagnostic products.
